On My Way To The Office -
Houston, Texas M, May 12, 03
The law firm I was associated with was located on the top floor (64) of the Williams Tower in Houston, Texas. When I arrived into the office that morning, several attorneys were in one of the conference rooms watching CNN. There were images showing that planes had crashed into the World Trade Center. I immediately tried to telephone my friend that was employed with Windows on the World, but communications were down. About an hour later, the South Tower collapsed, and was sickend by this. The firm then received a call from the Houston Fire Department stating that the building should be evacuated. About 15 minutes later, we were all asked to leave. My friend who perished is always in my thoughts. For months thereafter, anxiety and stress were very high. I was unable to sleep, and disliked going to work sometimes because of not knowing if anything like that would happen again and in my building. Because of the events that happened on September 11th, I no longer work with that firm, or in that building. I recently relocated to San Diego, and work on the first floor of a law firm . . .
